In the Spanish steps of Rome there is a boat in a fountain flooded with water that personifies the always sinking yet always afloat church.

Toured pompeii today. Excavated bodies are preserved at the site from volcano victims from the first century. It boggles my mind how huge the world is in space and time. Nothing I can read and learn can ever touch the experience gained from witnessing the world. Truly incredible.

The Vatican bells woke me up this morning. Pompeii is on the agenda for today. Its cold and feels like the middle of the night so I’m wide awake.
